Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do I need to be a good runner
to participate?
No. You can walk the race or
run the race. The Color-A-Thon is all about enjoying a color fun day with
family and friends.
Q: What is included with my
registration?
A bag with your complete color
kit: including a white t-shirt, sunglasses and a water bottle. You get a color
packet at the end of the race to bring to the finisher’s party!
Q: How is the color administered
along the course?
You will see smiling faces along
the course whose main goal is to douse you in colorful powder to ensure that
you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the
finish line.
Q: Is the color powder safe?
Yes!
The colors are made with high quality cornstarch and food dyes. All
materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the US FDA.
However our product is not designed for consumption.
Q: Is
it harmful if you inhale it?
Although
all the materials are food grade we do not recommend inhaling large quantities
of color powder. Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the
ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when
participating in color powder events. It should also always be used in
well ventilated outdoor space.
Q: Does
Color Powder Stain Clothing?
The
color powder washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some
materials. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine
washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing
excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water. Don’t forget,
that’s why you are getting a brand new white t-shirt!!
Q: Does
Color Powder Stain Skin or Hair?
Just as
with clothing we recommend shaking off all excess powder before exposing to
water. Normal soap and water should remove color powder from skin and
hair. Some color does tend to linger for a few days especially on blonde
hair. If you are worried about staining, we recommend applying a
moisturizer to skin and coating your hair with a small amount of coconut or
olive oil before the event.
Q: How does the color affect the
inside of cars?
We recommend bringing some towels
for the inside of your cars.
Q: Are cameras and phones safe to
have in the color zones?
To be safe we always recommend
covering cameras/phones with a protective dust wrap. Those colorful
powder particles are sneaky and The Color-A-Thon (Run/Walk) is not liable for
any damage that might be done to your phone/camera!
Q: Is The Color Run timed?
The Color-A-Thon (Run/Walk) is
not a timed event. You have 45 minutes to run/walk around the course and get to
finisher’s lane.
Q: Are there refunds?
If an event is held as
advertised, we cannot issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and
planning the event make it impossible. Just make sure you are good to go
before signing up. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, at
least come to the Registration Station, pick up your gear, and say hi to us!
Q: What happens if there is bad
weather?
A little rain won’t stop us! It even
makes the color brighter! In the event that severe weather does threaten the
event, we will provide notification on the school website.
