The C.E. Byrd Beta Club is a charter member of the National Beta Club. The National Beta Club is an academic, leadership and service organization for high school students. The purpose of this organization is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, morality, ethical conduct, and leadership among students.

The C. E. Byrd Beta Club is an active club on the local, district, state and national levels. Lesa Waters is the current District Sponsor, Convention Planning Committee Member and a LA State Status Sponsor. Micah Ivey was the 2011-2012 LA State Secretary, Nick McGinn was a candidate for VP in 2013, Bryan Stewart was the 2014-2015 LA State Secretary, Hailey Bryant ran a valiant campaign for state Secretary two years, and we run the Service Project room at convention. We have many activities and service projects planned for the year. Students have opportunities to compete at conventions, earn scholarships and participate in leadership conferences.

The general requirements for membership are as follows:
Academic –
Upperclassman must have a 3.2 cumulative gpa on a 4.0 grade scale
Freshman must have a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale from 8th grade
Attendance – you must attend 75% of meetings held each year (6 out of 8)
Service – you must participate in service projects held during the year – 4 donations, 2 club work days, and 2 service work days per year
Activities – you must participate in a majority of the activities each year
Discipline – you must maintain a reputable discipline record
Honor Cord Requirements: Seniors must currently be in good standing, have been a member of good standing for at least 2 years (consecutive) and attended state convention at least once. Honor cords with medallions will be given to Betas with 4 years of membership and good standing.

Note: For 2020-2021, service requirements will be amended to mitigate health risks associated with service projects in the community.
