The Advanced Placement (AP) program is a collaborative effort among motivated students, dedicated teachers, and committed high schools, colleges and universities. Since its inception in 1955, the AP Program has allowed millions of students to take college-level courses and exams and to earn college credit or advanced placement while still in high school. By challenging and stimulating students, the AP Program provides access to a quality education, which accelerates learning, rewards achievement, and enhances both high school and college programs.
Participation in AP
or Honors courses at Mason High School is based on students' preparation for
such a course, their willingness and ability to meet its academic challenges,
and the level of support they have from family and friends. Students may take
an Advanced Placement examination without having enrolled in the requisite AP
courses offered and conversely, may take an AP course and opt not to take the
AP exam. Students may retake exams each year, if they wish.
Homeschooled students who reside in the Mason Ohio School district are eligible
to take the exams at MHS.
The AP exam fee for
2015 is $92 (price includes an additional $3.00 for MHS
clerical and administrative costs). AP exam registration forms are available
from AP teachers and counselors in early January. Students who wish to take
an AP exam must submit the form along with payment in full to the counseling
office until February 25, 2016. |
