Designing Personalized Learning Experiences for Gifted Students w/ Brian Housand (Gifted PD)

Description: In this session, we will investigate the concept of personalized learning and identify a list of specific steps and strategies that you can easily employ to craft engaging learning experience for your students based on their interests. Special attention will be given to how this can be modified for virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction. Best of all a sample of ready-to-use activities will be provided.

Additional Information: Attendees are asked to bring a laptop, pad or other device to use at certain points in the presentation.

Cost: FREE for NWOESC member districts in Defiance, Fulton, Henry and Williams counties. Non-Member Districts: $125 per person. Non-member districts should (1) email purchase order to invoices@nwoesc.org with name of registrant(s) on PO, then (2) complete registration through this webpage.

Presenter Biography (Brian Housand): Dr. Brian Housand is the coordinator of the Academically or Intellectually Gifted program at University of North Carolina Wilmington. Dr. Housand earned a PhD. in educational psychology at the University of Connecticut with an emphasis in both gifted education and instructional technology. He served two terms on the National Association for Gifted Children's Board of Directors as a Member-At-Large. Along with his wife Dr. Angela Housand and Dr. Joe Renzulli, he co-authored Using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model with Technology. He is also the author of Fighting Fake News! Teaching Critical Thinking and Media Literacy in a Digital Age. Brian has worked in education as a classroom teacher, a teacher of the gifted, and a university professor for over twenty years. As a speaker and consultant, he has presented in 40 states, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Kuwait, and Chile'. Brian is a lover of technology, Star Wards, and all things Disney, video games, and fonts. He proudly identifies himself as a geek.   • Registration is required to receive a Certificate of Attendance for CEUs.

  • Light snacks and refreshments available on-site for purchase (credit/debit only).
  • NWOESC will make every effort to hold events as scheduled, however dates, times and methods of delivery are subject to change.   • Cancellation/refund requests by non-member districts should be requested via email by the listed registration deadline. Refunds cannot be granted for no-shows. Non-member attendees who do not supply a PO will be invoiced following the event.
