Intermediate Campus – Session I
All classes will be held at your child’s school directly at the
end of the school day ending at 4:30 p.m. unless noted in the class description. No class will held when school is not in
session.

Get Fit, Let’s Walk
and Talk! with Kristin Fox, Mason Resident/Parent
Designed to get students bodies moving and their minds focused on
healthy choices! We will learn about
different ways to make healthy choices and still have a ton of fun! We will take about a 45 minute walk each
afternoon during these walks we will encounter fun activities and challenges we
will need to overcome as a group. This
program is a low impact and fantastic way to get a little exercise and fun
after school. Each student will be
provided with a pedometer to continue keeping track of their walks at home.
Dodgeball with Jim Eckert, MIS
Employee
Join your fellow students in the very active
sport of Dodgeball! Each week we will be playing various popular forms of the
game.

Gaming
with Michael Michalak, MI Certified Teacher
Do you want the opportunity to learn more about the fun and educational
games there are on the Internet? You
will be given the opportunity to share your favorite games with other students
and play them together. Ready? Set? Let's learn and play!
Chromebooks
for Kids
with Robin Limpert, Certified Teacher
Do you have a
child that wants to become more proficient using any classroom or personal
Chromebook? Would you like your child to be more confident when given a digital
task at school, like typing an assignment in Google docs or a presentation in
Google Slides and be able to help their peers learn to do the same? Students
will learn to navigate and utilize Basic Google tools in Chrome, access and use
the Chrome Web Store, add extensions and apps to their Google account, improve
their Digital Citizenship Safety Skills and so much more!

Knitting with
Emily Huisman, Mason Parent
Are you interested in learning how to knit? In this beginner’s program students will
learn the fundamental knit stich:
progressing at their own pace from French/loom knitting, through finger
knitting and finally knitting with needles.
The projects student bring home will vary based on their imaginations
and practice.
Science with
Hosanna and Malika Hosanna An and Malika
Madugula, MHS Students
With so many different career paths, it can be overwhelming
for students to discover their true interests. In Career Exploration, students
will explore a wide range of classes, such as communication and advertising,
physical and biological sciences, and real-world art applications. Career
Exploration is designed to give students exposure to potential career paths and
an opportunity to identity their strengths and interests.
Yoga with Jo Ellen Ryan
Professional Yoga Instructor
Learn the rules and principals of Yoga. Warm up each week before we set off for
various “themes” of the week. Each week
we will do poses based on themes such as hot air balloon rides, going to the
zoo or park! We will play games incorporating poses and end our session with a
five minute Svavasana where we lay still and focus on the experience we just
had.

Fashion
Sewing – Backpack Series! with Mary Helen Studio Employee
Children get to learn the design process of picking out fabrics
and working with pattern pieces while they learn to sew a one of a kind
backpack! The backpack is a flap
backpack with an exterior front pocket.
They will have nylon webbing straps with metal hardware and a snap
closer. All materials and sewing
machines are provided by Mary Helen Studios of Cincinnati.
Kiln
Fired Clay Whistles with Norma Seto, YMCA Instructor
Make several
clay whistles, depending upon the ability of the child and how complex the
children want to make their whistles.
Whistles are molded from white clay pieces into various animal
forms. Children will choose the animal
they like best! Items will be glazed
and/or colored then kiln fired for years of display and enjoyment!

Kidz
Home Alone
with Enriching Kidz (Special times will be 3:00 - 5:15)
Program is
designed for the child who will be home alone for short periods of time. Children will learn such things as how to
answer the phone, what to do in case of an emergency, safety around the home,
etc.
Thursday: 9/7 – 9/28/17
Lazer Tag @ Lazer Kraze (Special times will be 3:00 –
5:00)
Students will spend time in the new trampoline area, then head to
the Lazer Tag area. A waiver for both
the Lazer Kraze facility and MCS will need to be completed before you child
will be permitted to attend this program, this will be sent to you along with
your confirmation letter. Transportation provided to the facility,
parents/guardians are responsible for picking up children at Lazer Kraze
promptly @ 5:00.
Computer
Keyboarding
with Christine Work, MIS Certified Teacher (Special times will be 3:00 –
4:15)
The National
Educational Technology Standards for Students (NET-S) outlines essential
elements of technology education that allow students to live, learn, and
work successfully in an increasingly complex and information-rich global
society. Achieving keyboarding proficiency at an early age is necessary for the
successful integration of technology across the curriculum. In this
program, students will learn proper typing posture, Home Row finger
placement, and accuracy of typing without looking at the keys (avoiding the
'hunt and peck' method). The ultimate goal would be to type 30 words per minute
with 95% accuracy. We will use an online program that will allow the student to
practice skills at school as well as at home.
Young
Engineers/Bricks Challenge with Blank Slate Employee
Exciting new Lego Robotics Program with STEM at
the core. A fun new way to learn science using the tools that children already
love. This course will teach scientific principles through stories,
demonstrations and construction of exciting THEMED Motorized LEGO® bricks models. This session will
be using our “Amusement Park” models.

Gallery on the Go Painting with Emily and Eliana Cohen, Mason Family
Students of all levels are invited
to participate in this fun program! We
will provide the easels, paintbrushes, paint, canvases, etc. Students only need to provide their own
creative as they follow the simple instructions of Emily and Eliana. Students will accomplish two canvas painting
during the session.

Lego
Robotics
with Dival Banerjee, Arko Chatterjee and Vishnu Avanthsa MHS Students
Lego creations come to life with Lego Mindstorms! We will learn the mechanics of building
robots and program them using Mindstorms’ visual programming tools designed for
children working in groups. This is an
ideal class for a creative child interested in learning about computer
programing and engineering.
Chess with
Mike Bills, Parent
Chess club is open to students of all ability
levels. In a fun, yet competitive
environment, students will be given the chance to learn the basic moves to more
complex moves of chess, while participating in “friendly” competitive
games.

Evening
with MHS Girl’s Lacrosse Team
Boys and girls can experience the thrill of
playing the fastest game on two feet!
Learn or reinforce the FUNdamental aspects of the game in a safe,
non-contact, fun and well managed environment.
All necessary equipment will be provided or you can bring your own
stick.

in the Kitchen
with Amy Bruns, Parent
We will be whipping up some fun in the
kitchen! You will make your own pizza,
learn about healthy snacks and bake some delicious treats and desserts! Please be advised we will be using
products that could contain allergens. Please contact Kim Dunnigan for more

Young
Rembrandts Cartooning with YR Staff Members
Learning to draw can be fun, especially when
we create silly characters, funny expressions and drawing sequences that tell a
joke! This program combines innovative,
step-by-step drawing methods with light-hearted subject matter that engages
children, their sense of humor and their vivid imaginations!
Fencing with Chelsey Howell-Hecht, Professional Instructor
Your adrenaline will rush while you
learn the art and sport of fencing!
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced fencer the class is
for you. Lessons include complete
protective fencing gear, footwork, blade work, free fencing, games, prizes and
a foam sword battle party at the end of every session.

Join your MI friends in a friendly game of basketball. Practice your skills with your peers. We welcome non-experienced boys and girls as
well as those who will be able to share their talents with the other children
Engineering
Club with
Classroom Antics Employee
How closely have you looked at buildings and bridges? Have you thought about what goes into
designing and building these structures? Using craft sticks, paperclips, rubber
bands and other household materials, we will work together to build unique
models of skyscrapers, suspension bridges and zip lines. Throughout this module, we will build a
bridge to help a family cross the river, construct a tower and explore scarcity
of materials by paying for building supplies with Monopoly money.
