Book Study: Gifted and Distractible by: Julie F. Skolnick
Step beyond just how to meet the needs of these students in the classroom, by learning how to build a solid school to home connection. This book study is for those who want to understand and support students identified as twice exceptional, as well as to gain strategies for success.
Gifted Competencies
This book study will address the following competencies as outlined in the Gifted Rule:
d) The ability to understand the social and emotional needs of students who are gifted and to address the impact of those needs on student learning
e) The ability to recognize and respond to characteristics and needs of students from traditionally underrepresented populations who are gifted and create safe and culturally responsive learning environments
The book study has two virtual meeting dates: October 23, 2025 at 4:00 pm & December 18, 2025 at 4:00pm. The rest is done on your own time.
You will earn 15 Gifted hours for book study completion.
This book study is provided at no cost for employees & educators from ESCLEW Gifted aligned districts (Anthony Wayne, Maumee, Ottawa Hills, Rossford, Springfield, and Washington Local) and ESCLEW staff working at an aligned Gifted district.
It is $50 per person for employees & educators from all other schools and districts, including ESCLEW employees NOT working at an ESCLEW Gifted aligned district.
