HORIZON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEXT Creative Design Studio Grades K-5
Students will explore different art and craft techniques over a 4-week period while creating unique, take-home projects each session. Using a variety of materials, students will practice textile art skills by weaving bracelets, experiment with light and transparency while designing nature or tissue-paper suncatchers, and create a chemical-reaction inspired art piece using Sharpies and rubbing alcohol to transform colors and shapes. Students will also use recycled materials to design artwork with sustainability in mind and incorporate digital design and collage to create personal mini scrapbooks. Throughout each project, students will learn how artists make creative choices, solve design challenges, and apply elements of STEAM through patterns, structure, symmetry, and properties of materials. Creative Design Studio promotes fine motor development, artistic confidence, and innovative thinking through hands-on crafting and artistic enrichment.
We'll meet from 3:30-5:00 pm on the following dates: November 13, 20, December 4 and 11, 2025
Teachers: Gracie Gaston and Abby Gallant
