HILLIARD MEMORIAL MIDDLE SCHOOL NEXT STEAM All-Stars: The Fantasy Sports Challenge
Program Overview: GamePlan is a hands-on, interactive club where middle school students use their passion for sports to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Through the exciting world of fantasy sports, students become team managers, data analysts, designers, and innovators — discovering how creativity and critical thinking drive real-world sports strategy.
What Students Will Do: Draft & Manage Teams: Students create and manage their own fantasy sports teams, learning how statistics and probability impact decision-making.
Analyze Data: Using spreadsheets or simple coding tools, participants track player performance, calculate scores, and make evidence-based predictions.
Explore Sports Science: Investigate how fitness, nutrition, and physics affect athletic performance.
Design & Innovate: Create team logos, apps, or prototypes of sports gear while learning about design thinking and engineering.
Showcase Work: Present their findings and creations at a final “Fantasy Sports Expo,” highlighting what they’ve learned through data visualizations, posters, and digital projects.
We will meet in Memorial Room 216 from 3:00-4:30 pm on February 23, March 9, 16 and 23, 2026
Teachers: Mr. Pontius and Mr. Friedman
