Summer Enrichment Classes Available

 The Plain Local School District offers a number of enrichment and developmental classes throughout the summer. Unless otherwise stated, all classes are held at GlenOak High School.

ACTIVITIES

Hobby Discovery Camp June 18-22 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
Students entering Grades 5-8 
Cost: $50 
Spend a week immersed in several different hobbies. Find the one that is right for you! Participants will try hand lettering, gardening, crafts, book making, baking, sewing and scrapbooking! All materials will be provided and students will take home directions and projects to continue discovering their new hobbies!

LANGUAGES

Chinese Language and Cultural Camp June 18 - June 22 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
Students entering Grades 5-8 
Cost: $50 
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Chinese culture through a variety of hands-on activities. Students will engage with their teacher and each other for the purpose of exploring the Chinese language and culture.

Hindi Language and Cultural Camp June 11 - June 15 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
Students entering Grades 5-8 
Cost: $50 
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Indian culture through a variety of hands-on activities. Through the study of the Hindi language, dance, music, customs, and food, students will become familiar with the uniqueness of the country of India and its people.

TECHNOLOGY 
Coding June 25-29 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Students entering Grades 5-8 
Cost: $50 
Always been interested in learning to code, but didn’t know where to start? This camp will introduce you to the fundamentals of coding, while giving you hands on experience with student friendly coding languages and platforms like code.org and Scratch!

Allow your young artist to take their creativity to the next level. Students will explore a variety of media including watercolor, acrylics, paper mache, pottery glaze, 3D art, and more. Dress to have a good time and get messy.

Colorific Visions

June 11-15 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Students entering Grades 5-8

Cost: $50

Immerse yourself in art this summer. Bring your creativity and leave inspired. Students will use a variety of media to create collage pieces and 3-D structures. We will be using acrylic paints, watercolor paints, pottery glaze and so much more. Dress to have a good time and get messy.
